How do I know how many credits I have?
You can find this information on your graduation plan. For more information on how to access your graduation plan please visit: https://ispahscounseling.weebly.com/graduation-plans.htmlispahscounseling.weebly.com/graduation-plans.html
Why am I not in the grade level I expected?
Each high school has their own method for determining student grade level. At ISPA our grade levels are entirely determined by credits, so if you are not in the grade level you expected then it is likely because you have not yet earned enough credits to be in that grade level. For more information on grade levels please visit: https://ispahscounseling.weebly.com/graduation-requirements.html
Can I graduate early?
Some students, especially those with many transfer credits, may meet our 22 credit graduation requirements prior to their 4th year of high school. It is vital that you review our early graduation policy and carefully follow the guidelines in order to get approval from our principal. That policy can be found here: ispahscounseling.weebly.com/graduation-requirements.html
It is also important to keep in mind that it is not always in a student's best interest to graduate early. Please be sure to meet with your counselor to discuss if early graduation is an appropriate path for you.

I did not promote to the next grade level. How do I catch up?
When students earn below a 60% in a course they do not earn credit and this can cause students to fall behind their peers on the path to graduation. The only way to "catch up" is to pass classes and earn the credits, but there are 3 main ways you can get the credits you need a bit faster.
Option 1 is to take credit recovery courses for courses you failed. Our credit recovery courses are largely asynchronous and are taken in addition to a student's typical course load. This option works well for some, but the students that are most successful are those that are comfortable working independently and juggling a large course load. We have a limited number of credit recovery courses, but please contact your counselor if you believe this option would be best for you.
Option 2 is to take additional courses each semester. Typically, we schedule our students for 5-6 courses per semester, but adding a 7th course can help students earn additional credits faster. This is best for students that are only 1-2 credits behind and those that are comfortable managing a large course load.
Option 3 is to take summer courses. This is a great way for students to earn credits without having to take on a large course load during the school year. At this time, ISPA has not yet determined what, if any, summer courses will be offered by the school. As we get closer to the summer we will share more information about summer courses with our students and families. Each spring we also share a list of other credit recovery programs that students can consider if the course is not available at ISPA. It is important to keep in mind that there is a fee associated with those programs.
Students that have fallen significantly behind may require a combination of all 3 options. Please contact your counselor to determine your best path to graduation.
